Ronnie
This is Ronnie, sister to Roxy (someone must like Eastenders!) She is a 2 year old Dutch cross. At first glance you could easily mistake them for twins, but then you spot the scar on Ronnie’s nose from when she had a big fight with her sister. It has healed well now and fortunately does not spoil her very pretty looks. We have now been forced to split them up to stop their terrible tantrums. No doubt they are just trying to live up to their TV name sakes.
Ronnie proved to be a bit of a handful to begin with, as she was very hutch aggressive indeed. It now transpires that she is in the middle of a phantom pregnancy and has built a beautiful nest that she is guarding. Now she has been spayed her behaviour should settle down.
Once you can get her out of her hutch though, she turns into a totally different rabbit. She is very bold and adventurous indeed and does seem to have any fear of humans or dogs. She will come right up to you to give you a nudge and even walk right over your legs. She even came running today when I called her name. But just you try and stroke her! She soon darts for cover with a stamp and a growl for good measure! Offer her food though, and she comes running straight back.
With that in mind, I think she will soon come around and turn into a wonderful pet for someone who has the time, patience and understanding. We would like to rehome Ronnie with a neutered male for company, so if you have a boy you would like a friend for, Ronnie could be just the one for you.

Roxy is a 2 year old Dutch cross. She is a very friendy and inquisitive little girl. She came into care with her sister but they had to be separated as they were fighting. This may have been due to the fact that poor little Roxy was in a lot of pain. It appears that she has been fed on a poor diet which has led to her having spurs on her back teeth.
She was in so much pain she couldn’t bare to be touched, so we think this is why she may have lashed out at her sister. She has now had an operation to have the spurs removed and this has relieved the pain for her. Although she is on a better diet now which should help to keep her teeth in check, we do not know how fast they will grow back or when she will need to have it done again, if at all.
If she does need to have her teeth done again, we can recommend a vet in Birmingham or Coventry who can do this with the rabbit awake for approx £10. This makes it much more managable, and hopefully won’t put anyone off taking her on. Roxy needs a neutered male to move in with, so if you think you can give Roxy a good life, please get in touch.

Melvin and Parsnip are a pair of 4 1/2 month male brothers. They are adorable little boys but they do need a lot of handling to make up for what they have missed out on so far.
At this age it won’t take long to bring them round at all. We will be looking to rehome them together and will be having them neutered shortly. Parsnip is the black and white crested and Melvin is the brown and white crested.

Jasmine and Daisy are a stunningly beautiful pair of mini rex females. They are 8 months old and came in due to the previous owners children having allergies to them. They were brought as a christmas present, sadly as always seems to happen when animals are brought as gifts, it turns out badly for the animals.
They are very friendly girls who don’t seem afraid or nervous. They are going to be spayed soon and will then be looking for a new home together. If you feel you can offer these girls a forever home please get in touch.

Janie is an adult Lop who came into the shelter in November as a stray. Lee is an adult Dwarf who also came into the shelter in November when his owners were moving into no pet accommodation. Janie loves her food and can be very protective over it so some previous rabbit experience could be useful.
However, once she feels secure, she is a friendly rabbit and tolerates fussing. Lee is a typical Dwarf - likes to be busy running around!

Snowla came into the shelter in July 2007 as a stray. She is an independent girl who tolerates handling. She cannot be rehomed with other rabbits.
Flake
Flake came into the shelter as a stray in October 2007. He is a very friendly boy who loves cuddles. He cannot be rehomed with other rabbits.
Bojangle
Bojangle is an approximately 1 1/2 year old brown and white Dalmatian lop. She came to the Mayhew with her friend Speck. On their arrival Bojangle was the more approachable of the pair but since they have settled in she likes to take more of a back seat.
Once you have been introduced and made friends with her she will gladly run up to meet you. Bojangle enjoys chilling out in her litter tray and munching on hay whilst watching the world go by around her.
She also loves running in and out of her play tunnel. Having had free reign of the garden in her previous home Bojangle is unused to being picked up and will forcefully struggle. Because of this she will best suit a confident carer. Bojangle will need to be re-homed with another rabbit whether this be a Mayhew rabbit or she could be bonded with a non-Mayhew rabbit looking for a partner.

This is Pumpkin a 1 year old spayed female black and white English cross. She was returned to us on the 14th February as she was not getting on with the existing rabbit. She must be homed on her own as a house rabbit. She has lived as a house rabbit before and is fully house trained, she is very clean and is used to using a litter tray.
